You still have the packaging for that? Alot of times there is a diagram on the packaging. All you need is either a spst or dpst switch depending on what wire(s) you splice the switch into.

Cant really tell you what terminal goes to where from a picture. You will need to test it out with a DMM if its not on the packaging

Here you go man. Check out this old thread I had made about it. Shows the connector that you have to splice into in one of the pictures.

And also check out this page. These were the instructions that I used when I went to install mine back when. http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/ro.../flooding.html

well it has three prongs on the back of it so i figured two were for the on/off and the third was for the light to come on when it's switched on.

Why do you need a switch with a light anyway. Most people don't install fuel cut switches where they can be seen...

Wrong, pin#3 is common ground. pin#2 goes out to your load(in your case I guess the fuel pump) and pin#1 is your power in.

I would not use that switch, atleast not in how its diagram shows. You dont need a switch with a lamp, its just going to draw power away from your load and like NZ said, fuel pump switches tend to be hidden .

thanks kungfuroy for the explaining the diagram. by common ground, do i just connect it to any thing metal? is that just for the light to come on or do i have to use that to make everything work? do you think i will have problems if i use it, since it's draws power? what do mean "atleast not in how its diagram shows", how would you use it?

i don't mind the light as long as it doesn't cause me problems. i pretty much have a place in mind where you won't even see it.

Are you trying to switch the fuel relay or the fuel pump directly? When i installed one on my rotary beetle i bought a FIA approved battery cut off switch and made it switch the earth on the fuel pump directly

NO, you are going to start shorting and burning things up doing it that way.

You first needs to look how the fuel pump gets turned on and the wiring diagram for it.

If you insist on using that switch, I would cut the Fp(if this is the thick Blue wire) wire in the above diagram. One of the wires I would connect to Pin#2 on your switch, the other wire to pin#1. Do not connect anything to pin 3 and make sure all the wires and connects are insulated and mounted so it doesnt touch the chassis.

really confused now. i checked my car out right now and the fp, the thick blue wire with green lines on it, and there's two of them in the same hole/slot. do i just cut one of them or cut both and have two wires connected to one prong?

i get just about everything on what and where, but the only thing i don't get is that there's two wires in one slot(2 wires in fp slot) both blue/identical. do i have to only cut one of them or both to connect into one?

c'mon can't someone tell me?

my problem is that there's 2 wires in the fp place and i don't know if i'm suppose to cut them both or just one of them.

since there's 2 wires do i have to cut one of them and just connect them to the switch?
or
cut them both and connect 2 to one(on) and the other 2 to the other one(off)?

According to your profile you have a 1986 non-turbo.

The Circuit Opening Relay is under the dash and above the steering wheel.

Pull the plug off the Circuit Opening Relay.

The Black/White wire is in the center of the top row of the plug.

Cut the B/W wire at least two inches back from the plug.

Attach a new piece of wire to one half of that cut wire.(THE B/W wire)

Attach another new piece of wire to the OTHER half of that cut wire (THE B/W wire).

Attach a spade connector to the other end of each piece of new wire.

Now attach one spade to your switches blade connection. Then attach the other spade to the switches other blade connector.

Attach the new wires to blade 1 and blade 2 of the switch.

Start the car. IF it runs, then click the switch and the car should die.

If the car does not start, click the switch and try again. It should start.

Car did not start? Go to RADIO SHACK or FRY'S and buy a cheap mulit meter. Go to your battery. Turn the meter to DCvolts. PUt one lead on the positive post and the other on the negative post. IF you turned the meter ON, you should read battery voltage.

Now turn the meter to OHMS, usually a upside down horse shoe symbol. Touch one meter lead to the intake manifold and the other lead to the base of one of the coil assy. It should read 0.01 to 1.0 ohms. Thats all you need to know on using a meter.

Now go to your new switch. Put the meter on ohms (ignition OFF). Put one meter lead on one of the blades that you have a wire going to. Now put the other meter lead on the other blades on the switch that you have connected to. The meter should read 0.1 to 1.0 ohms. IF not, then click the switch. The meter should now read 0.1 to 1.0 ohms. IF that is so, the switch is working and there is something else wrong with the car.

OR, if that did fail, then turn the key to ON. Put the meter on dcvolts. Put one meter lead on a good ground point. Put the other meter lead on one blade of the new switch. The meter should read battery voltage.

Now touch the other blade on the new switch. The meter should read battery voltage. If not, click the switch and now it will read battery voltage. At this point both blades should read battery voltage showing the switch works when the switch is in one positon and when you switch the switch again only one side of the switch should have battery voltage.

Long way of saying cut the B/W wire and splice a switch b/t the two halves of that wire.
