injection issues

just about working my way through a motor swap. motor is out of an 88 gxl...now in an 87 gxl shell. i aqquired this car because someone else gave up on it. he didnt know much about cars so i undertook the project...

after a few days of re n' re...the motor is in along with all the wiring etc.

the only problem i am having is getting the injectors to cycle. there is power AT the injectors however they arent grounding in order to switch on and off. the fuel pump works, and yes i have the breather hooked up properly. the 88 motor uses high impedance injectors...but that doesnt even matter because these injectors are the same ones which have always been used on this block, and it DID run. the brain matches the injectors...but they just WONT spit any gas!!!

its driving me nuts...3 months now... LIIIIVE DAMN YOU!!!!

that stupid buzzer wont go off...oil or coolant alarm?

starter cranks, pump cycles, plugs spark, tach bounces, but no fuel. HELLLP MEEEE!!!

try and give a few "love taps" on the injectors. it doesnt always work but its worth a shot.

AFM plugged in? I've seen several cases where if the AFM is not present, the ECU doesn't even try to fire the injectors.

If you are getting spark, then the CAS is fine.

Have you matched the impedance to the chassis? High impedance injectors in a car with an injector resistor pack will mean that they're not going to fire very well. If you have high impedance injectors the resistor pack must be bypassed.

??

the resistor pack is COMPLETELY bypassed, as it is not connected to anything. everything that was in the working 88 went INTO the NON-working 87. motor, ecu, interior...i never pissed with the injectors at all. it came out as one piece, it went in as one piece. there IS a resistor pack in the 87 but its just sitting there. i have high imp. inj (tab to the right on the plug) and the ecu matches the motor. it worked in the 88, why shouldnt it work now?

this is really irritating...

Im stumped. If you have 12V at the injectors, and the injectors match the engine/ECU/harness, with a good CAS signal (you have spark) and the AFM plugged in, you should be getting fuel.

Have you verified that you have fuel pressure? Are the fuel lines connected to the rails backwards?

ENGINE fuse is blown.

OR...pull the cas out of the engine or get a spare CAS and then put the elect plug on that cas that is removed from the engine.

Lay a sparkplug wire near the strut studs or near a gnd point. Key ON. Spin the cas with your fingers. Spark will occur if the wiring and fuses are good. Simple as that. You do it that way so you don't wear the starter out nor spin the rotors with out lubrication, save the battery and about twelve other reasons. No spark means you did something wrong.
