im all confused!!

okay, i just got a beater 86 na fc that was runnin somewhat okay when i drove it home. then it started over-heating. the guy i bought from told me about it.. that it needed a new waterpump (i knew otherwise) and so i brought it home. i changed the thermostat, and it didnt over heat anymore. then it didnt want to stay on. we would turn it on but then once it passed the warm up process it would run for about 5 or 10 maybe 20 minutes.. then the engine would just die.. and it'd be a bitch to turn it back off.. so we let it sit for a bit then turn it back on.. and it did.. but it smelled like really strong gas fumes inside my car and in the engine bay too. we thought the injectors my be leaking so we changed out the injectors... and we're waiting on them. what im confused about is that now it doesnt want to start at all.. im thinking its flooded, but i dont want to do anything to it before i get everything sorted out... i need advice to see if i should do the unflood process.. or do anything else.. oh yea, its weird too but if i took the whole air filter off or disconnected it from the throttle body it would be a bitch to turn it on if it turned at before.. and if we simply slipped the filter kit thing on the throttle body it would've started up nicely.. any light shed on the would be appreciated..

"oh yea, its weird too but if i took the whole air filter off or disconnected it from the throttle body it would be a bitch to turn it on"

That would be because your cpu needs a signal from the AFM to set the A/F ratio. (AFM is under your filter box)

As for your problem, I would check the sensor on the back of the water pump neck see if it is connected properly and working.
To get it started, change the oil and get some new plugs and it should go.

well ground is negative for most cars, so look for the cable that has a wire connected to the body thats the ground cable

that clikcing is your solenoid and it clicks when there is low voltage present if you had good voltage it would engauge and turn the eninge, assuming that the starter is good

nah, its not blown.. if it was there'd be a loud.. LOUD grinding type of sound. well.. its kind of late now, so tommorro morning im goin to clean my engine bay.. theres chunks and chunks of grease everywhere and its hard to follow the cables down. i did a search and it looks like the engine ground isnt hooked up because i was feeling around by the tranny and i felt a loose wire down there. im goin to look foor a screw and screw it somewhere down there tommorro. still dont kno why it wont crank over.

Strong gas fumes? Better check that pulsation dampener (do a SEARCH), 'cause that WILL cause a fire if it's leaking. Do this before anything else!!

okay i fixed that problem, no more fumes. just some old hoses i had to switch out, and for reassureance, i put some clamps on them. so no leaks whatsoever. im just worried my ecu might be shot because of a shortage.

Have you checked the fuses? If you didn't blow the ECU than you are lucky. PM me if you did. I have an ecu if you need it.

well my fuses look good, most of them anyways. there's this one relay im tryin to get from an autoparts place... (its a "special order"...bastards) if that doesnt fix it i'll take you on that offer. although, im not leaning towards taht alternative quite yet tho. doesnt seem like the ecu is shot, but hell.. what do i kno.
