Idle high and lumpy after TB mod...

I reinstalled my TB today after doing the TB mod a few days ago. After everything was back together I start the car, let it warm up, then shut it off to re-adjust the TPS. Even after re-adjusting , and checking for vacuum leaks (Im 99% sure there are no leaks) the car idles very high, and the rpms bounce. It idles from 1500-1600 rpm (brum..brum..brum...brum). Any idea what the problem could be?? TPS adjusted fine, no vacuum leaks. Car idles fine at 800rpm before the TB mod, that was a few days ago. Thanks alot...

Yep, same thing happened to me when I did it a couple days ago. Although I was hoping to attribute my high idle to not using gasket sealer when putting my intake manifolds back on after porting them, seeing as how I did it on the same day. Hopefully that is what my problem is.

Yea, that could be it , I had a leak between my UIM and the LIM when I had mine off for porting, what caused major idle issues also. But back to my problem.....I know this topic comes up alot, and I did do a search, but all that anyone ever says it that it is a vacuum leak or TPS mis-adjusted, which my problem is not... Anyone have any ideas??

Stupid question since Im sure you already tried this, but did you try and use the idle adjust screw to get it to idle down a bit?

How is the adjustment of the secondary and primary throttle plates? The plates that were removed could have covered an improperly adjusted pair of secondary plates. You know, like how any car has an idle speed screw but also a throttle plate resting position? Maybe the resting position is out of whack. The haynes manual goes over setting the throttle plates and what clearance you need at resting position, etc.

I'm pretty sure that happens to everyone... you just gota reset the idle speed after by using the throttle stop screw.

I know the sound. I had my HKS catback on before doing my header . . . the car had a very quiet but deep tone to the exhaust before changing the header. Once I fired up the car after putting it on, the rumble sound it made was just completely different. It reminded me of a twin engine airplane or a Harley with straight pipes, very nice but kind of a head turner!

Yeah, neighbors. Not everyone likes rotary music I guess.
