Any header with a stock muffler will sound like crap.

Okay, I am looking and everything says "RX7 coupe". Will any of these things fit the vert?

and pacesetter says "excluding conv".

according to what I've read last night, the pacesetter header replaces the stock manifold and the 2 pre-cats and should bolt up to the OEM main cat. I'm assuming that since the RB presilencer replaces the main cat that it should work the same as having an actual converter there. My main concern is that the presilencer will only be a direct fit a RB cat-replacement pipe or header. And if there are any other options for replacing the cat other than the RB part that may work any suggestions are appreciated.

I also have a glasspack, everyone telling you it will melt is over-simplifying the issue. If they are installed properly (way at the back) then you should be ok. No they will not last as long as a quality muffler, but it will dampen some of the harshness.

When they say loud, it will be, your ears may very well be ringing after you get off the highway, you will need to turn your car off at drive thru's so they can hear you, and your neighbors will know when you leave and come home.

The vert has an additional crossmember/subframe. The header must be designed to miss this crossmember or it will not work on the FC convertible. My understanding is that the Pacesetter header is not Vert compatible due to this issue. If the manufacturer says it won't fit, expect it to only fit with modification.

Good luck!

Yeah, there is a large cross member there, thus why I was asking. Seems to be like the same stability mod a bunch of people make on their coupes.

A Racing Beat header and presilencer combination does replace the stock exhaust system until the rear of the main car. It bolts directly to the factory y-pipe. This means it is a direct bolt on and nothing else is needed to get you running. However without a cat you will not be able to pass emissions if you are required to where you are. A Racing Beat header is too short to bolt up to a stock cat so if you buy only one of those you will have to fab up a small extension pipe that bolts between the header and the cat.

The Pacesetter header is longer than the Racing Beat header and does bolt directly up the factory main cat.

The issue with a header and stock mufflers isn't only how loud it is. Tone is a big concern and it is probably the worst sound you have ever heard from a rotary. It is absolutely terrible. Keep in mind that any potential power that a header can give you will be severely limited by the flow through the stock mufflers. They aren't that good. You really REALLY should replace the mufflers FIRST!!! After you have a cat back installed only then should you consider installing a header.
