i know "search first"...
trust me ive looked and didn't find exactly what i needed on the forum. the short of the long is i bought a car with a crappy clutch (so in other words i didn't drive it, but it started) dealer just said it needed a tune up. stupid as i was i believed him. i fixed the clutch took her out on her maiden voyage. there was a whole other prob with 5th/reverse int he tranny but i wont get into that. so not much power in the band slow accel only goes so fast and gets 2-5 mpg. read up and i think i know my problem "apex seal gone on one of the rotors" right? maybe im right. get new "used engine" out of wrecked car. seller said it ran before he took it out. put that engine in and two miles down road, with no hood because im testing it of course, a fire starts on the top of the engine (undetermined cause). ok getting a little pissed now. it took the harness and various other hoses before it could be exstinguished. new harness in and about to take hoses off old engine when i decide to weight reduce things i dont need or want i.e. a/c, ps, heater blower unit. then i get to "sub-zero starting assist" and i realize that this was never plugged into my old engine. could it have been part of the cause if not all of the cause of my old compression probs. granted i never really did a comp test but i assumed it was low with there being no power. also as a side note has anyone had fire due to the oil pressure sending unit not being hooked up or would that not do it.

Was probably a bad fuel line or a leaky pulsation dampner that caused the fire. And it's common for the sub zero crap not to be hooked up (should even be removed usually) If the vac lines that used to go to it weren't plugged that could cause some problems.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
The cold start assist was supposed to be disabled when ever the car came into a dealer for service.
They found it actually increased emissions so there was a Factory service bulletin to disable it before the car left the dealer.
