That's what My Bastard Friend means Dude..it is Better to Pull the Wiring out from teh engine bay side, instead of pulling through the firewall to the inside of the car.Since the Big Rubber Grommet that holds the Wiring into the firewall is Surrounding the wires...the "ECU Side" of the Harness only has like three Connectors on it,and Less wire to pull through the Hole that way..The Reason that People do it that way is Simplicity. You don't have to go about Taking Connectors, and Manifolds,ETC off the Engine to get the Harness off,in order to pull the Engine. You pull the Engine and the harness as ONE unit and then If you want to Take the Harness off,you can see what you are dealing with, out in the open, instead of the engine Tucked into the engine bay..

As they've all told you...
The emissions harness is the one that controls the engine. It's on the passenger side and hooks to pretty much everything on the engine except I believe the starter and alternator. It's big and scary.
The engine harness is on the driver's side and hooks to the alternator and starter. It's cute and little!
You are working on the emissions harness and that is the right one.
if you look in the FAQ, you'll see that the ECU (ECU = Emissions Control Unit) is the computer that actually controls the engine.
Have fun.
