How Much Boost Can You Safely Put On A Stock 89 Rx-7.want To Turbo But Not Wanting To Go Crazy With Motor Mods.

40 psi if you upgrade the head gasket. sounds like u want to turbo an na? there are countless posts out there. search. rotary resurrection.com has a write up also

Question

were is the best place to buy parts b/c i'm about to get a rx7 given too me but the apex seal is bad. want to turbo and while the motor is torn apart i want to do the mods for turbo and woundering what i the best turbo for a street strip application. and how hard is it to rebuild a motor. i am very mechanically inclined but never dealt with a rotary engine.

you can pick up a Tii motor thats used for like 700-1000 bucks. but its not a drop in thing. you need a different harness, tranny, driveshaft rearend, halfshafts, and ecu. then you need a turbo and an exhaust. or you could turbo the NA motor and forget about that other ****. if you keep it with a stock turbo your tranny should hold up for a while. if you change turbos then kiss the NA tranny good bye. just do it right and call it a day. use the search feature as mentioned above, as there have already been many threads covering this subject.

This is a classic case of needing to check the FAQ and do a little searching first. If the original poster had checked the FAQ, he/she would have found multiple links that deal both with turbocharging the NA engine and doing the TII swap.
