it had just under 200k when i bought it for 1700 bux. it had a high 1500rpm idle, and the 3800 bog was prevalent. the guy that sold it to me told me it had a rough idle and he messed with some of the screws on the throttle to get it to idle smoothly at 1500 rpm. he also knocked out the rosin in the hole for the air mix screw on the flapper air meter. what a jack ***,

all it would have taken to fix the idle prob was some new plugs and a fuel filter,

but nooooooo, it took 2 days of adjusting and readjusting, and some slight adjustments to the flapper for the next month and a half to get her runnin good.

trouble free eversince!

a local guy had about 210k iirc on his s4 n/a, but started having overheating problems that he couldnt figure out. he ended up parting it out after that. my guess is the internal coolant passages just got too clogged up

Some impressive stuff! I got a rolling n/a chassis with 132k on it with a blown motor, but the previous owner was a complete moron. He didn't really know the car or cars in general that well. Shows that despite these motors blowing up every 6months/10k miles that they can last for quite a long time taken care of.

Guy I worked w/ had 220 and his ran like a champ. A well built N/A motor that is properly cared for can last you a long time.

Compression is down to 95psi on all 6 faces . I have yet to sit in another 2nd gen with a smoother idle though...

203k on my '90 TII. Motor's toast, time for a rebuild. Rust-free, and as straight as a 200k+ mile car can be...
