In my opinion, it would sound like crap. You really need a resonator in there to mellow out the sound. The cat will help, but not much.

my t2 used to have a 3inch turbo back no cats, to RSR/RB canisters. they werent the normal sized RB canisters, they were HUGE. it was annoyingly loud, but sounded totally bad ****** ***. i quieted it down with my apexi N! catback. sounds awesome.

def go with aaron cake and hook it up with presilencer to canisters. 2.5inch

your in luck that is my exact current set up, stock manifold and only one main cat into stock dual cans. So listen for yourself

In person its not loud, sounds pretty much stock. One of the locals with a 86 gx with a dynomax catback sounds about the same as mine.

But mine is ported and sounds a bit like a B.P. at idle, i think a less restrictive exhaust would agrivate the lumpy idle more.

Or you could always be like me and run stock manifold, 2.5 straight back to 2" y-pipe to 12" long cans with a 3" tip. Mandrel bent 2" Y-pipe. Cheap-o miniature mufflers are red carbon fiber wrapped. Got them for 15 bucks from a buddy. It's loud as **** and throws 12 inch flames out both tips. The cops around here have told me a few times that I'm breaking sound law at idle, then again, the cops around here seem to love FCs. I've been pulled over 5 times since X-mas and have yet to get a ticket.

What about a COMPLETELY stock setup, with removed mufflers? Just curious how that would sound, and if it would be loud.

loud as ****! idle is like WOT and WOT makes your ears bleed.

backfires are often mistaken for gun shots

dont even try it not even streetable and you'll get ticketed for some BS charge like "disturbing peace" and "making unnessesary noise"

It sounds this loud l------------------------------------------------------l

But seriously, Its really not that loud. I took my mufflers off where they unbolt after the Y-pipe because they rusted out. Its not horrible. Sounds decent. A little airy but not rediculous. Not as loud as most fart cans that are on some of these popcorn wagons out there. Lets just say I didn't notice it over my stereo.

My 90 vert had a Rotary Performance downpipe w/cat and y-pipe with no mufflers when I bought it.

t sounded like a big loud angry weed-eater; Exhaust+ the sound of the string whirring in the wind...Mmmm!!!

At 8000 rpm your soul soars, but your ears burn.

it all depends on what your definition of loud is. Loud is a pretty relative term for most people. What is loud to you may not be loud to others. But compared from a completely stock setup, I can speak about stright with no mufflers. Mine was loud loud loud and loud. I am trying to find the ideal setup without spening big $. Right now I am waiting for my new downpipe to come in and then I will search for high flow mufflers that don't cost an arm and a leg and dont sound like the e-bay fart cans.
