how is jdm engine corp?

has anyone ordered a swap from them? They got a full t2 swap for about 1600, im guessing another 200 for shipping, but that also depends where you are located...

I got mine from got-jdm.com with a 3 month warranty for $1300 and that included shipping. This was for a complete 13bt s5 swap engine, trans, ecu, and wiring harness (uncut). They compression test them before they send them, no leakdown test though.

Japan2LA, just PM him what you are looking for.

An S5 swap will require you to rewire the whole car. So get an S4.

dont really have to rewire the car for an s5 swap if u have an s4 t2. you could just swap a few things n use the the stock s4 harness...

got-jdm.com estimates the engines have i think around 50k miles on them. Like I said tho, they don't do a leak down test so you're still risking having blown coolant seals. I felt like converting my s5 engine to work in a s4 car along with removing the emmissions was far too much work to invest when I still didn't know for sure if the engine would overheat. Well I've ran the engine three or four times as I just completed most of the swap last week, and it's just fine so far.

If I could go back or for next time at least, I will compression test the motor when it comes on the pallet by energizing the starter and hooking up the compression tester, and remove the water pump housing and water pump, bolt on the pineapple racing short block leak down tester and confirm the engine's soundness so I'd feel better about taking all the time to install it and do the required external work.

Imagine if the coolant seals were bad, I'd have to take the engine back out of the car, remove the s4 front cover, reinstall the old one, remove my lightweight flywheel, etc. etc. just to send it back for another block, all the while they might just refuse replacement because I removed the front cover. well I don't know that for sure, but my point is I wish I would have done a compression and leak down test FIRST. I guess I lucked up with a good one (so far) tho.

I also was directed to Japan2LA but he discouraged me from buying from him because he basically said I asked too many questions. He informed me that he does offer a gaurantee on the engine but their was no contract type wording to be read and no website. I didn't feel comfortable buying from some seemingly random guy anyways, i mean thats a lot of money too me. and it was more affordable from got-jdm, but either way your taking some kind of risk. Idk tho, i'm sure plenty of people have had success buying from him, but I didn't feel comfortable with the deal.

btw, my motor was supposed to be $1300 for the s5 engine & trans with a cut harness and no ecu, however I guess they added the s5 harness, ignition coils, and ecu because I originally wanted a $1250 s4 engine alone but it was tested bad at their shop so they had to change my order for the $1300 dollar motor. Expect to pay $1500-$1600 for the s5 engine, trans, ecu, and complete engine harness. Or $1300 for the s5 engine & trans by itself. Mine also came with a short shifter installed, dual belt alternator pulley and Greddy oil cap! I guess thats a good thing and a bad thing, cool to have performance parts but also a symbol that someone may have driven the engine and transmission hard in it's past life. idk, but GL

Right, you can run the S5 keg with S4 accessories. This assumes the OP is starting with a S4 T2. Or goes ahead and buys a S4 TII ECU and harness.

That is not completely true, you could run an s5 block, turbo, and manifolds on an otherwise s4 car relatively easily without rewiring anything! Just use the s4 front cover, throttle body, MAF, wiring harness, ecu, etc. This is essentially what I have done. Wouldn't this also be considered doing an s5 swap?

then you'd have higher compression, a newer motor (more than likely with less miles), a better turbo and manifolds, better alternator, and an engine that seems to be much more abundant with jdm engine importers. In fact got-jdm.com informed me that s4 motors are less common and more likely to have damage to them.

You are correct. But the OP would have to get a S4 TII ECU and wiring harness if he is doing a N/A -> TII swap.

Most of the goodies will come from your n/a. The front cover, alternator and junk are all the same n/a or TII.

The ECU and Harness you will have to source from the for sale section.

You might be able to modify your n/a harnes to use on the TII as well, but you will have to research that.

That isn't a full swap. For the full swap you will also need a TII hood, LHD TII throttle cable, brake booster vacuum tube, TII or upgraded fuel pump, driveshaft (either the Mazdatrix TII-NA driveshaft or a TII driveshaft along with TII differential and halfshafts), and if the engine doesn't come with a TII starter and clutch slave cylinder then you will need those too.

Don't do it. I know that the S5 has higher stock performance numbers, but once you add modifications the difference lessens until you end up with exactly the same power as a S4 engine but with way more work to install it in your S4 car. Read here:

I own an S5 T2 and it's not worth the hassle. You're not gonna be keeping your car stock for long and the extra 20 horsepower is only because S5's have higher compression. I've had my car for less than 6 months and I already have plans to mod it, and you will to.
