I usually shift around 2500-3000 normal driving, 5-6k having fun, and around 7k-7500 when pushing it. I have only gone to the buzzer once. I could barely hear it because my exhaust is so loud.

the 13b engine can with stand up to 11,000 rpm. thats when you get damage. when driving it, most people think its bad to redline because of the buzzer. it just sounds nasty. but dont worry you wont hurt a thing. just your wallet.
According to my shift light (designed for mpg):
Shift between ~2500 and 3800rpm, depending on throttle (heavier => shift later). Usually you shift between 3000-3500, except at extremely light/heavy throttle. Cruise as close to 1800rpm as you can get, but no lower.
For maximum performance: Pedal to the floor, shift at redline.
Premix: May help a little even with OMP enabled. Use "good quality" 2-cycle engine oil (most are good enough), only 1/2 oz. per gallon if the OMP is still enabled. Improves lubrication and sealing, for slightly better engine life and compression.
