Ok Here is the deal. i have a 1988 rx7 been sitting since 2007 still have 2007 tabs.. Just got it running, Sorta. I had this place next to mazda and more in federalway or kent make a strait pipe Because my stock pipe would not go back together after doing to auto to 5speed swap.. I know my car would not pass emissions why even go there and waste 15 bucks.. I had someone give me an idea i will try, going in telling them the car wont run. and i need tabs so it wont get towed. Or something along those lines... Would anyone have some inside tricks they would like to share. TY TY TY Fellow rx7 Lovers!

Doesn't work that way, best way to go is get a cat installed in your exhaust and run an air pump if you have already disconnected it. Run the car for about 15min to heat up the cat. That should be good enough to pass idle and cruise.

Another way is to get tested for $15, get your fail papers from the emissions station after you have done your test and send your car over to a certified Emissions Tech and pay approx. $150 in "repairs". Get your recite and the Fail papers signed by the emissions mechanic and return those documents over to the emissions station. Your 2nd test is free and if you fail you still get a waiver which will allow you to get your tabs. This is completely legal. and waiver is good for 2 years.

Well I know if your in cali and are low income (like most fc owners haha) you should be able to qualify for federal aid (you pay 100 or 20 depending on income status and they'll pay up to 500 in emissions related repairs) to make your car pass. no clue if other states have anything similar to this

Well im not getting a cat installed.. i dont have a smog pump either.
The only way i see is registering my car in BFE to some outhouse somewhere... I so wish my car was 25 years old right now

Like trying to have your cake and eat it too.
Unless you know someone who knows A GUY,you won't get the car on the Road.and it is always gonna be Illegally anyways.
Put a Cat and air pump on,suck up your Pride and get on the road.Or sell the car and get another one that corresponds to your Emissions Exemption.
Put up a WTB: USED cat and air pump.
Guys here on forum are taking them off Daily.Shouldn't run ya more than 100 Bucks.
What you are asking is for someone to Do Something for you that will get then a 5,000 Dollar fine,and their business License revoked.Not a lot of Guys around here are willing to take that chance anymore.Good Luck though.

well you could move to eastern washington, or gift it to someone in eastern washington where they don't care about emissions, or you could let it sit for another 4 years or so when it becomes 25 years old and becomes a "classic" and you don't have to pass emissions. But everyone else is right, trying to get tabs without knowing inside people or putting a cat on and having it tested is going to end in failure.

Can you register your car as a classic car? They are waived from emissions are they not? This will at least buy you some time.

well... once it's 25 years old, it's considered a "classic" and is waived automatically. At least in Washington that's the case...

my first fc

just register it as a non running vehicle and find someone who has a car that will pass and have them buy u tabs (u pay them of course) and put them on the car, ive done this with my moms car and on top of that ive gotten pulled over twice and they checked my registration and didnt say anything i didnt even get a ticket (i also have straight pipes with a hi flow cat though and my air pump is installed) also if the other person needs tabs as well just say u lost the first ones and pay again and get more (yes this also works ive done it) thats what i did and its worked out for a year now
