How to get the shifter bushings out of auto transmission shifter?

I've checked the forum for answers to this but haven't come up with anything that helps. I have a super-sloppy auto transmission selector handle. I have replaced the bottom bushings (the one attached with a clip to the rod on the tranny that's access from under the car. That helped things a bunch, but there is still a lot of slop so I ordered the 2 other bushings that go in from the top. I have pulled the shifter cover off and I can see exactly where bushings should go but see no way to access them without removing the whole shifter (4 bolts and then I think I have to unhook the shifter from underneath the car again). Is that correct? Or is there an easier way to get access to the top bushings? I'm attaching a pic for reference. Just want to know before I schedule time to get my car up on my friend's lift again.

I am not so familiar with the easier way to remove the bushings but looking forward to see what others would suggest

To be fair, I'm not certain. If you have bad bushings in the shift selector, I think I have an auto trans shifter from an 88 that you are welcome to have.
