How far should I mod a daily driver.

Im wondering how far I should mod my daily driver.. I have no plans on taking off my air pump, im not going to be hardcore street racing, although if someone steps up on the street Ill have to show them whats up I just picked up a 87 t11 rex, with 48k miles on it. This car drives like its new and id like to keep it driving like its new even after mods. So far it has a rb clutch in it. The first thing I am doing is getting some tokiko shocks and struts, and possibly some springs. Then a rb dual full exhaust system, and maybe a better intake. I am a noob at all this, thank god i know a killer mechanic who will help me out.. If anyone could give me some ideas on how far i can safely mod without sacrificing reliability this noob would be gratefull.

Well first of all, Tokico shocks and some springs should not affect the drivability of your car too much...8k front and 6k rear with adjustable shocks is fine, IMO.

Keep it emissions legal with the exhaust set-up, and then move on to more power mods...just make sure it's emissions legal if you want it to be a daily driver. Never know when you're gonna get caught! My friend just got an exhaust ticket the other day...

For me to decide on this, it would depend on the state laws. If its going to be a daily driver, then I would do as much as I could so i could still pass inspections and emission. Here in Mass, I'm stuck with doing light mods cause they are ***** about doing inspections. They check everything now, i know 2 people failing inspections for a bad wiper, and bad gas cap LOL one of the worse ways of failing Good luck with what you go with.

Peace

this is a good topic i feel...
my rex is a daily driver and i made it a tree hater....
all i have to do is drive 2 hours away to renew the tags...but oh well...
im about to rebuild my engine with a mild street port..
upgrade the turbo (bnr stage 2..i think)
upgrade the fuel system and down the road hopefuly upgrade to some sort of engine management system
does all this seem too much for a daily.....
i dont think it will be but i also want the car to last atleast 3-6 years without going pop again....
same as the thread starter, im not trying to autocross (yet) or anything, but if some honda pulls up, i want him to know not to **** with the REX!!

There are free mods you can do to make your car quicker. Remove ALL of the weight you possibly can from the car. DONT do something stupid like bolt a giant gay aluminum wing on your car and put a big-*** stereo in it. You will SLOW the car down!! Think about what you are doing, your car is just another car if you make it slower or ill handling...
