Question How Do You Wireopen The VDI????????

I am lost! I have a 1991 n/a. I looked under the upper maifold, and found what I think to be the VDI. It's sort of a dashpot looking thing. I read von's post on how to do this, but I am lost! I can't seem to get the rod to go down, or any wire ties to get around it! Any detailed instructions?

You need to remove the dashpot first. 2 10mm bolts hold it on. Once that is removed, the little tab the rod WAS attached to, should move freely.

Got ya. Remove the whole dashpot, and then pull down the rod?

You don't, but its a lot easier. If you remove the dashpot there is more room for you to get your hands to wire open the VDI. The Rod is connected to the dashpot, so you just have to worry about turning the little tab that the rod is connected to.

Ok, so in effect, it like doing the 5th and 6th ports? The rod goes into the manifold and turns. I am just pulling the rod down?

The last post- You have an 87? You don't have a VDI.

All I did was to seperate the rod, where it attaches to the VDI "finger"- the part the flips up and down).
It will then extend (It's spring loaded), just let it rest against the "finger", beside it, and it keeps a bit of pressure against it sideways, you can then just manually flip the VDI up (high rpm) or down (low rpm), and the rod will hold it there.

I'm not positive, cause my car isn't right in front of me, but isn't down the high rpm setting and up the low rpms setting? The VDI dahpot is upside, so when pressure is applied to it(at 5500-5600rpms)the rod extends DOWN. I may be wrong though.

Hey

They shouldnt get stuck like your six ports. But anythings possible.

Bad news RICO. Im really really sorry to say that I cant give u my bonez race pipe. Im so pissed. I took it off today and took some pics and was about to send it until I noticed that the Test Pipe that i was temporaly going to replace it with was 7inches too short. I dont know how this happened. It was on thier before. I think it was suposed to hook up to another pipe. And my meckanic took my entire catalitic converter system and i dont want to ask him for it back because hes scary. Anyways im extremely sorry. I know this is bad business but look at it this way. Know u can get urself some headers for about the same price if u look in the parts section. Im really sorry. Save ur money..

Ok.. I have pics of wired VDI but the files are way too big. How would i post them??????? anyone know. I also have pics of my custom mods and what the sleeves look like.
