how to disable oil buzzer??

Hey guys, my oil level sensor is bad, and im sick of hearing the buzzer, how can i get it to turn off, untill i can locate a new sensor, i have plenty of oil in the car, and i check it quite often, so im not worried about that, where is the buzzer located?? I wouldnt mind cutting the wire if i had to, untill i could get a new sensor.

Disconnect the plug to the sensor. What makes you think the buzzard is related to the oil level?

I have the same problem with my "add coolant" sensor. I always check it, and it's always full, but that goddamn buzzer goes off. How would you totally disconnect the buzzer???

These sensors (both the LOW OIL and LOW COOLANT) rarely fail to short.&nbsp You guys better check your oil and coolant systems before assuming it's a bad sensor.&nbsp If anything, replace it!&nbsp These sensors can prevent you from requiring a brand new engine.&nbsp It's "minor" annoyance that having to replace your engine.

Send a PM to hypntyz7, I'm sure he has a bunch of good used sensors around...

When you disconnect the oil level sensor, do you still get a lite and buzzer. If so. let us know. On the water deal.........go to the sensor on top of the radiator. Disconnect the plug from the sensor and put it to ground. Did the buzz stop. Did? Good. Now you know it works, so go and bleed the air out of your radiator. Thats why they put a bleed plug on the right hand side. On these two items you NEED to fix them. Not disable them. The low level lite saved my butt on my 82 rx when 300 miles from home. I'd would have kept driving and learned what a rx sounds like when it was totally out of oil, if it wasn't for the light. I don't remember that car having the buzzard.

if you need to add coolant, would it need to be added to the radiator or to the overfill tank? my friend's 7 keeps going off and he's filled the overfill tank up (cause the cap says "refill here") but it doesn't do anything

Add it to the radiator (actually, the fill cap by the thermostat). If coolant is low, adding it to the overflow tank won't really get much back into the system.

As for sensors, yes, disabling them is doable. However, it's likely a lot cheaper in the long run to just bloody fix them. Oil cooler line fails on the highway? You probably want to know. Heater core hose lets go? You probably want to know.

They're there for a reason, and while checking your fluids regularly works for minor leaks, a catastrophic (read, engine destroying) leak will probably not occur sometime you're able to check it.

Come on guys. I'm getting tired of seeing How do I disconnect this, or how do I unhook that thingy. Why not do some actual work and fix the cause of the problem. Those buzzers and lights are there for a reason. I would much rather have all that stuff working then guess while I'm on the road and lose coolant or oil suddenly. Replace bad parts, fix bad wires, and don't half *** it. Sorry, just my .02

As far as these buzzers go they saved me. Two days ago I was driving and all of a sudden a loud buzz came on and my add coolant. I had never heard these buzzers before. I pulled over, popped the hood and wow the steam. I had coolant everywhere under the hood. Phew

i think the guys question was how to disable the buzzer i dont think he asked all that other crap ... if you want to lose the buzzer take out your dash cluster and un solder the four prong buzzer from the cluster .. thats how i did it and no more anoying buzzer while i figure out the real problem ...and its easily put back once you do fix it\
