1. 3800 hesitation. infamous. check/clean all your grounds especially the one for the ecu and your battery negative.
2. dirty fuel pump sock or fuel filter causing clogging.
2 most common things that cause this, the first being more prominent.

limp mode would be all the time and it would want to stall at low rpms, not able to give it over 1/3 throttle else it would stall so unlikely. my brothers car went into limp mode for a while due to a sensor wire breaking. TPS maybe, couldn't hurt to check/set it to FSM specs but I doubt that as well if its just hitting a wall.
might have something to do with your secondary injectors too, thats when they come on. might be clogged or scrap. in order of what you should do/check:
1. tps
2. grounds
3. fuel filter/fual pump sock
4. start checking injectors/wiring
and ya, can you rev it to redline in nuetral fast, or gradually increasing rpm?

I JUST had this problem, I changed my Spark Plugs and wires and made sure my Aux Ports were completely opened, that helped a tad bit.
What really help me fix it was taking out the secondary injectors and changing out the seals for them.
