high pitch buzzing

so i have an 88 t2, that started making a constant high pitch buzzing. ive searched the topic and narrowed it down to the power steering, everyone says it might be this or this but doesn't state how to fix it, any idea on how to stop the buzzing?

Check the second FAQ "sticky" at the top of the thread page and you'll find the answers you seek.

I don't know a thing about p/s issues...but making the buzzer stop rather than fixing the reason it's going off isn't likely to end well.

Are you sure it's not a low lvl coolant or oil warning going off??

If it is a constant buzzing with the engine running then it is most likely a disconnected speed sensor. If it is a constant buzzing with not only the engine running BUT ALSO the engine off with key on then it is most likely a failed power steering computer. Both of those scenarios have happened to me.

It can also beep at you to give you a error code:
[*]1 Beep - Speed sensor signal - may occur while driving if shorts exist in harness or sensor wiring.[*]2 Beeps - Engine speed signal[*]3 Beeps - Stepping motor signal[*]4 Beeps - Power steering computer failure[*]5 Beeps - Steering sensor signal

im sure cuz the warning lights are not on, plus i had an 86 that had the coolant buzzer go off its a different pitch/ tone.

its constant even with the engine off key in the on position (i think you answered my question) so do i have to replace the pump, or where is the computer located?

i know the beeping self diag the car does, but its not beeping just constant.

The computer is located under the driver's side dash above the clutch pedal. Here is a picture of the location that I took right now from my car. It has two 10mm nuts holding it in place:
