HIGH oil Pressure and Whistling EGR
HIGH oil Pressure and Whistling EGR
Hey guys two Questions:
1) My oil Pressure is at the highest point on the gauge i think its 110 driving and "sometimes" drops to 60 at idle. Just ANY help would be great I did alot of searching but nothing that sounds like me.
2) My EGR is making the MOST ANNOYING whistle noise ever! only when it heats up and at idle not when pushing the gas.
ANY help or direction would be great
Thanks in Advance guys
BTW yes the search tool is usefull as long as it yields the results you are looking for but if it doesnt UP comes a new thread that may seem similar but not the same........

"The tool is only as effective if you know how to use it correctly."
Search for "high oil pressure" (which includes the quotes in the search box):

ya your just reposting what I already did and said.....
so anyway I will just take all of the ideas and thoughts of those and try to put them together to come up with something ...
Thanks anyway

All those threads are lame unless you dont realize your gauges are innacurate and your senders are bad. I have a brand new aftermarket gauge and changed my oil recently and put a heavier grade in and my oil pressure is up about 20lbs. It now shoots up to 100psi above 4k and between 30-50 at idle depending on how warm it is.
I was just curious if that's ok to run it with oil pressure above spec? It was expensive oil, it'd be sucky to have to drain it.

You go out and buy a Cheap aftermarket gauge to use TEMPORARILY. Such as a cheap (maybe 20 bucks) SunPro from Autozone or Pepboys etc. Install it in the stock sender outlet on the rear side housing.
Then start the engine and get it warm and write down the Real oil pressure figures. IF they are more normal (normal being what is described in the FSM), then figure out if the sender is junk or not. You do that by following the procedures in the FSM. Basically you take the senders output wire off, put a given resistor on it and the other end of said resistor to gnd. Then compare the stock gauge reading with what the FSM suggests is the right figure for that resistor.
If fact you should have followed the instructions in the FSM to begin with.
The oil pressures are in the FSM and the figures for when the pressure regulators dump the excess pressure are...................in the FSM.
