high idle

Hey guys, i swapped out my n/a for a JDM t2, it runs good, but idles around 2100 rpm, and seems to rev itself when idling. I replaced my o2 senosr yesterday, but haven't run the car yet. My BAC valve does not seems to have an adjusting screw...anyone know if the JDM engines do? I adjusted my air/fuel mixture solenoid, and that didn't do anything. Any ideas? Oh yeah, by the way, my buddy (he's pro at fiberglass), we are making a kick *** bodykit for the second gen, 86-89, and are going to be selling it on e-bay when we finish the mold. It's going to be so much cheaper than the GP Sports bodykit, and it has the same rotor in the front as the RX-8 (so you can buy the aftermarket chrome assessories). Any help or knowledge on my issue wold be appriciated.

Thanks,
~Rob~

Make certain the cold start, fast idle circuit is functioning properly. If not on the fast idle cam, the hot idle is adjusted by the throttle screw on the right under the intercooler.

damn buddy... just finished up the same swap as you about a week ago and i had the same problem....i also had the bac valve without the little screw in it and when it started (my s5 jdm t2) it also reved it self and idled at 2000 rpm..heres what i did to fix the problem...to adjust the reving you have to adjust your tps to 1000 ohm and that will fix the reving(theres how to in the forum on how to do this)..then see how high the idle still is..now you will have to take the intercooler off(if yours is still stock) and lean over the passenger side fender and right next to that water line that goes into the throttle body on the left there will be a phillips screw..this is your idle screw turn counter clock wise to lower the idle

good luck

hey calio64, can you send me the link to the page on adjusting the tps to 1000 ohms? What do you idle at now? do i need to jump the initial set coupler when i adjust the tps? The body kit will be online in about a month, and i think we're gunna sell the whole thing for about a grand. Oh yeah, one more thing, did your engine crank hard and backfire alot before you adjusted this stuff? Thanks man,
~Rob~

here is the site on how to adjust the tps

http://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/TPS/tps.html

this here is a awesome site for a bunch of info...this will show you how to do it on a s4 tps which has 3 wires...our tps has 6 but the 2 wires we need to adjust is the same color as the s4 so just hook up your multi meter to the same 2 wires (green and black)...my car idles great.right at 800-900 and sounds real good...when i first started the car it just idled high and reved itself like 500 rpm and i adjusted this stuff and it solved the problem...it would not backfire(dont know why your car would be doing that)oh yeah and you dont have to jump no coupling..make sure you drive the car for like 20-30 minutes before you adjust the tps because the car has to be warmed up...and finally about the body kit is it posible for you to sale me just the front bumper?

Theres more than adjusting the BAC valve inT2 engines for idle. I have an 87 NA but my BAC valve is crewed down all the way and it still idles at 2K RPMs

sorry for changing the main subject but...

i'm a little confused on what kind of meter to use... i have a multimeter, but i don't think it reads ohms. i asked the guy at the store if he had any ohmmeters and he didn't even know what those were..

WTF am i suppose to be using here?

an ohmmeter should be in with your multimeter...it has a symbol of a "U." Umm, you want to use the ohmmeter to adjust the resistance. The guy must be new or something...post a pic of the front of your meter, and i'll look at it. I forget what kind mine is, but they are only around 80 bucks or something like that (for the whole multimeter).
