HID Kit Question -
I am considering on getting a HID Kit for my '91 FC, but since I know nothing about HID kits, I was wondering if any of you guys could help me.
A friend of mine said that a H4 kit would fit perfectly... but I was reading some bulb application guide today and it said something about H6054?
What should I look for? What should I buy? What should I not buy? Do I need to replace many parts of the headlights?
Any recommendations?
Any information you can provide will most likely be of help

you have to get non sealed h4 compatible headlight housings preferably not ebay due to cheap plastic/bad light cut in them then any universal hid kit will work..you need the 2 ballasts and h4 bulbs 8k light output will work nicly..the kits will come with wiring ballasts/bulbs.njgreenbud just wired them in his car with some pics prety straight foward

Where else can you get housings for HID besides egay?

stock headlights are sealed beam headlights so you cannot plug into the h4 bulbs required for the hid conversion..just google it "h4 housings" make sure there the same length/width stockers thinf 7x9 are them double check its been awhile. ebay hid kits will work along with flashtek.com sells pretty cheap hid conversion kits

Ok, just buy a kit for H4's, then you'll buy H4 housing to put the HID's in.
Here is what I did:
Bought the HID kit from 'egay'.

Bought a set of random H4 housingsfrom ebay as well.

Then remove the crappy Halogens in the new housings-

Insert HID bulb into new housing-

The wiring is easy, basically just plug the HID harness into the stock headlight pluf from the car and your good to go. I had to sswitch the location of the positive prong on the HID plug just to make it match the plug for the car so it gets 12v when low beams are on.

My kit happened to come with sweet *** brackets and pads for the ballasts, it was easy to securely fasten them.

The finished thing in the car-

Warming up takes like 10 seconds-

After 10 seconds you get this w/ 8000K bulbs-

Bad comparison of beams, HID on right but the housing is sitting upside down. Pic was also taken in the middle of the day.

I have other housings that I can switch in to see if I get a better pattern but this seems great so far. I was really surprised by the difference and the quality of the kit. Every thing went smoothly and they seem to work great.
HID's for $130 - $100 for the HIDs and $30 for the housings.

they were described as H4/H6054 that fit FC/MR2/240/AE86 so look for headlight conversions for those cars as well. This set ran me about $90, they are well worth it to me.
Hey NJGreenbud, what paint is that in your bay?...I currently have my motor out and am looking to respray my bay a neutral color and I really like yours. Care to share?
Also hows your beamspread with those projectors? I like projectors and was considering doing it but my current beamspread is way more than adequate.

The paint is Duplicolor Ceramic Engine Paint spray paint in the color Iron. The engine bay was red to start with rust from an old brake master cylinder leaking, so I stripped it down to metal and then primed and painted with rattle cans. Worked well in my opinion, coming up on a year since doing it and it is holding up excellent. Look here if you wanna see the paint and motor go in-
'87 TII Overhaul - from bouncing idle to engine refurbishment
As far as the "projectors", they aren't Porsche lights or anything, but remembering the fact that they are from ebay, they aren't bad at all. The projector thingy looks just like a magnifying glass - it seems to make it brighter I guess but I really just like the looks of them. The spread is similar to the other lights I've had maybe a bit wider on the ground definitely a more precise beam. They don't blind you unless you are directly in the line of the beam either. They light up the whole road without throwing light in a million directions which I imagine is good for other drivers huh.

Oh, thats the crazy blue "city light", yeah pretty hard to find em like that, especially on ebay a real rarity....
ok, but seriously I couldn't find a set with out them at the time and I liked the style of the light besides that. Maybe you could wires it up w/ a switch or something for parking lights or something but I just leave em unhooked. Actually I haven't ever hooked em up, maybe I should see what they look like? At least they are smaller and more hidden than the ones in the previous housings. I was thinking about taking them out and plugging the hole with RTV as well.....we'll have to see what happens.
