hesitation like hell!!

Okay, guys, got a problem....finally managed to fix my fuel filter problems (Don't ask, you won't be able to breathe for fifteen minutes while I tell you what an inept mechanic I am at times. ) Anyway, thought my fuel filter was my hesitation problem....WRONG!!! Now it hesitates almost all the way through the engine range...I don't hold throttle, it stayed idling at about 1500 to 2K, I slam throttle, it drops to around 500 before jumping up to about 3K, then drops to 2K or so, backfires, jumps to about 4K, and proceeds to try to act normal from there....and my stress level is not allowing me to think straight...need help!!!

well...not using a TII (sorry, forgot to mention it was a Vert) but if that was the case, then I'd have had this problem when I got the car, seeing as that's not been messed with since I got it. Thx for the try though

Is the CEL on? If it is, try adjusting your TPS. Do a search, there's lots of info about doing this.

You may still want to test it to see if it's adjusted right. It's possible that the CEL is burnt out or just not working.

Hey, i just had a similar problem. My TPS ended up having a slightly frayed wire and it was randomly touching metal, causing wierd problems like what you said. I also had hesitation and TPS adjustment helped that. Since your TPS is always pretty much at idle or cruise, it seems to get wear spots in those places I.E. its temperatmental in those areas. Hope that helps some.
