Dont turbo that motor. Pull it out, put in a turbo motor and all supporting acessories. It will be cheaper, will last longer, and will preform better.

hhmm easier? maybe a bit... however cheaper? i dont know about that.... that varies on how you do it ... and btw there is no such thing as "slapping" a turbo on there heh.... it requires a good bit of custom work and fabricating.... and if you tune it right that motor will be just as reliable as a turbo motor..... people assume high compression motors+ turbos = unreliable... hell if you tune a actuall turbo motor wrong or bad it will blow just as fast... its all about tuning, when people will learn that i dont know but if you do turbo the motor at least do a compression test to verify its not on its way out... if its healthy then hell turbo it
just my .02 cents

(115k on n/a motor and turboing it now)

I also think that it would be cheaper to turbo your engine and easier as far as mechanically just harder in fabing parts. if you use a stock t2 manifold, turbo, dp and cat, fuel pump(ive got them lying around btw
) then you just need piping, oil and coolant feed and return lines, some sort of fuel controller, i/c, and a good tune on around 6 psi and Ill bet it would perform just a bit better than a stock T2 because of the higher compression. But the key is a healthy motor. Because if your motor is on the way out a turbo will just get you there quicker. I wouldnt go over 8 psi on a high mileage engine. A new tII swap (motor/wiring harness/etc) thats jdm usually costs under 1k but they cores usually need a rebuild so add a couple grand depending on how you do it. Thats just my .02

thanks alot, im really new at this rx-7 thanks for the help...so is it safe to put a stock turbo II on my N/A motor with 150K+ miles, or an aftermarket turbo?? im only scared cuz i dont want my motor to blow cuz of the high miles, and im putting a turbo on it.
like i said you cant ask us if its safe or not... we do not know the condition of your motor... thats up to YOU ... you need to get a compresson test done...(cheap way is a piston compression tester from autozone) its free to rent and pull the leading spark plug.... crank the motor for a few seconds and observe the readings on the guage .... should be 3 even bounces hopefully 30psi or more... 90-100 psi total is ok... 100-110 is good and anything over that is great..... look up rotaryressurection.com for more detailed instructions on a diy compression test... or just take it to mazda and get them to do it but thats at your own risk and will cost alot... if you have a healthy motor and know how to tune well then its safe for a turbo.... hell sonicrat is making a bolt on turbo kit ... you should look into that thread because if your new to these motors you might just need to buy a bolt on kit from him.....

You could safely run the stock turbo at low boost (6psi). Trying to push extra HP out of that tired engine much over that isn't suggested. A 14B turbo is WAAAY too small for an FC. DSM turbos are way too small for us in general.
If you're really interested, I sell kits to do just this. Check sig.

turbo'ing your n/a rx7 would cost what?
this s very quick becuase its late and i want to sleep
-turbo + mani + dp $300
SAFC (100-300) depending on which one you want
Intercooler ifyou could get the stock topmount to work $25 assuming you have a t2 hood, if not, then ad another 150+
Clutch (dont bother arguing w/me the stock n/a clutch at 100k+ mi is gong to take that for long) $250 if you do it yourself
Misc lines, things you break etc $200
So right there im guessing $1200, do everything yourself. your tranny/rear end isnt going to last. Your going to have to run restrictive exhaust and port the wastegate to keep the boost down our your going to be be a 1 rotor wonder. A stock T2 will beat you. Now, for anywhere 500-1500 you could have a turbo drivetrain in your car, and be much more reliable.
i said 500 because i have seen and know of right now turbo rx7's that run for sale at prices that cheap or CHEAPER( *cough $400 88 T2 needs lots of body love in mass cough*) that you could source everything from.
