DROVE MY CAR YESTERDAY AND I LOOK AT MY OIL PURESSURE IT JUMPED FROM 60 TO 110 AND UP MORE ...??? IT WAS DRIVING FINE BUT IM WORRIED ABOUT IT NOW EVERY TIME I START THE CAR THE OIL PURESSURE JUMPS ALL THE WAY UP. WHEN WARM STAYS AT 50-60 WHEN I GIVE IT SOME GAS IT GOES UP TO 110 ......IT WAS FINE THE OTHER DAY 30-35 AT A STOP AND 60 WHEN CRUSING ??......ANYIDEAS WHATS WRONG>>>?? PLEASE HELP

 

it is most likely a bad oil pressure sending unit. a very common problem with these cars.

 

you checked the sender/sensor? how about the gauge?

 

really ..hummm??? any others prombles besides that u think ??? i looked around and said it might be cloged or something like that ??...thanks for ur help ill check the oil puressure sending unit

 

yeah checked the sensor..not the gauge... what should i look for in/or on the gauge ???

look at post 8 of the FAQs (2nd link) in the stickies above this section. Download the S5 (89-92) FSM. It is the manual that will change you from a boy to a man.

well i have no idea what happened but i took of my pressure sending unit cleaned what i could did a whole oil change 10w 30 this time i use to run 20w 50 and now its fine ...do you think the oil had to do something with it ???....everyone thanks for tha help .

 

it was probably just a crappy connection. Good to hear it's working now.
