Help! Puddle of oil

Okay so it looks like the car had a good full amount of oil in it when i bought it and it looked like the oil had plenty of miles on it so i assume that the leak wasnt there or not that bad before hand. but i just installed my transmission in my car and now after leaving it in one spot i see a nice sized puddle of oil underneith it appears to be coming from the passanger side of the vehical and looks like its running down the motor mount and is all over the front crossmember peice any ideas?

thanks,
brendan

did you perhaps damage the tranny front oil seal when you stabbed the tranny back on? you sure it's engine oil?

Could it be the oil pan itself leaking? Like the gasket or something? That is a common leak, and sometimes after replacing the gasket it still leaks and you might have to seal it with silicone or RTV or something (I dont remember exactly what to use). Good luck finding it - leaks are a bitch!

yeah, I'm thinking oil pan gasket. Is the engine wet with oil from the pan gasket down or does it look like its coming from a higher source on the engine?

If you are fixing oil pan gasket make sure that you put the new one and don't try to just tighten the bolts.
