help plz!!! quick
help plz!!! quick
hi, i recently found out that my old radiator's tank are leaking, it was losing coolant like ****, so i got myself a fluidyne, i put the new radiator in and seemed to me the radaitor and all the hoses connect to it are running fine,
today after i got home i parked my car into garage, after 3 hours i go into garage, i see coolant (not a lot, but not less) on the floor, so i made sure i tighten up everything and then go out for a drive, come back in gargae and check for leaking,
radaitor part is fine,
but when i looked under the car, coolant steams are coming out from the area that is right above the swar bar, below the water pump
so steams are coming out and i see little drops coming out slowly but can't see where it is from, coolant level is definitely lower,
what part is that??? how to fix it??
is it related to water pump?
help plz quick
it's a 89 T2
i am not aware of this leaking b4 because i thought it's just the old radiator problem, could it be because of the fluidyne radiator?? since the radiator cap is now 21 lbs comparing to 13lbs b4

the increased pressure might have killed the water pump. they leak there when the pump seals give out. Mine is leaking right now but it's parked for the winter So'll get on it in a couple months...
sounds like you need to change the water pump.
and for what's it's worth my rad endtanks were leaking a couple months before the pump started... but I put a stock one one since I couldn't afford a fluidyne
So I guess everything just wears out at the same time.

thx for advice,
anyone got a picture of the waterpump?? because i wanna see how the whole thing looks like.....i don't even know how the waterpump looks like, i just know where it is (my friend pointed to me where)
is it easy to install a waterpump myself??
also i removed the airpump and still waiting for the dual pulley alternator setup,
lot of ppl say pump will slip under high rpm, would that be causing the leak??
but i didn't really pushed my car above 5k after i install new radiator

ya there is a hole in the bottom of the water pump. normaly the seals in the water pump prevent the wather reaching this hole. but when the seals wear out the water gets by and leaks out the hole. I'm pretty sure the hole is there for that reason. to let the bypassed water get out that shouldn't be there and as a sign that your pump is bad.
the pump is the one in the top middle with the 4 bolts sticking out

Try slipping a mirror under the water pump and you will see a weep hole in the bottom of the pump housing - should be signs of discoloration if fluid is leaking - if so the pump is shot and needs to be replaced - fairly straight forward job but time consuming and for once the part is not too expensive - about $55C as I recall when I did mine.
