I cannot for the life of me remove my upper intake manifold. I've taken off all 4 nuts. removed the long blot. Taken off the throttle body cable. taken the nut on the end of the intercooler brakcet off. I don't think they're anythign else that could possibly be holding it down. I can't even budge the damn thing. Please help. thanks

Use a screw driver to pry it up from the gasket. You will also have to remove the water hose that is atteched to the bottom of the throttle body.

I think by the "long bolt" you already did this... but make sure you remove that one last bolt that's right on top in the middle of the intake manifold. Lots of people miss that one.

OK, there are 2 bolts you are likely forgetting (on an S5 anyways).

Look by your little area of solenoids (colored air actuators) there are 2 bolts that run HORIZONTAL. This is on the DRIVERS side of the car.

still no luck

there has to be something holding it on still
so far i removed all 4 nuts and got the longer bolt that goes through the center of the uim. I've hit the dman thing with almost everything i can think of. i've tugger and pulled and chizzled

I am at a total loss here guys. This is an S4 TII and i cannot for the life of me budge the thing. there has to bne some mysterious bolt or nut holding the thing on. I sitll have the throttle body and intercooler aluminum elbow on it. Let me know if there's anything else that needs to come off. i've taken a ton of etra nuts and bolts and hoses off as well. i'm about ready to try tog et somebody over here to come help. but i head back to vatech tommorow.

I saw the thing..It is an evil evil manifold. The 4 bolts connecting to the LIM were off AND the center bolt was off. We put a crow-bar under the pocket in the UIM and used the alternator as a pivot point. I held myself in mid air on the end (140lbs) and it wouldnt even pop off the LIM. Its evil...

Damn...did someone maybe use their own "special" gasket material on it in the past? I don't know what to tell you but if you have all the nuts and the bolt off it should move. I had mine off in a few minutes once I knew what to take off.

So i really really need someone else who knows their stuff to just come by one day. i leave for school tommroow but my parents would be more than happy to jsut let somebody in the garage for 20 minutes or something one day. anybody? i'm about to post in the mid-a forum to see if they can help.

but yeah, I dont know what to tell you.. once all the bolts where off mine is was no problem

The thing that the Throttle body attaches to and says 13B injection Mazda. The bracket is on the drivers side of it.

Ohh nvr mind you have a T2. And you have already removed the bracket. I guess your intake is just being a gay bitch.

I do have an idea however. Could be dangerous so use at your own risk, get a crobar under there, and slip a 5ft pole or longer over it, and hang from it, stand on it etc.

Well, good luck

Aw c'mon guys, gimme a little credit here! You should just bring that **** down to TN, where we remove all our bolts before lifting intake manifolds, and where our rx-7s run on both rotors at all times (darkwaveboy knows what Im talkin about)

You sure you loosened the nut on the end of the throttle body inlet? by the intake air sensor? I bet that's what's ****** you...you can usually push down on the throttle body area to break the gasket loose.

OK, you have removed everything that would stop you from seperating the UIM from the LIM. All the hoses, etc will need to be removed before you can remove the UIM, but nuts and bolts you've mentioned are the only things holding it onto the LIM.
I did this a week ago and had exactly the same problem. What I did was remove the bonnet, wrap a rope under the UIM, stand on the car at the base of the windscreen and pull upwards on the rope as hard as possible while striking the UIM with a rubber mallet! I know this sounds a little extreme, but it worked, with no damage to anything except the UIM/LIM gasket. Good luck.

well i guess im just lucky then cause mine came right off i was leaning on it looking for any more bolts/nuts/lines to take off and it moved.

so i just picked it up and took it off.
the only thing i had problems with is the coolent line under the TB my hands are just to fat to get under there easily
