Help me decide on mods / equiptment.

I am rebuilding my JDM S5 TII engine. I am using:
2-piece rotaryaviation apex seals
coolant seal set from rotaryaviation
new oil control rings and o-rings
new side seals/springs
FD corner seals and springs
550cc primary injectors (cleaned and bench flow tested)
720cc secondary Greddy fuel injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Rebuilt S5 turbo
Ported turbo wastegate
Side housings resurfaced by racing beat
3in turbo back exhaust
FCD
Going to ship the thermowax pellet and upgrade the oil pressure regulator
Remove the airpump and ACV/EGR Valve
Racingbeat street port on intake and exhaust.
eccentric shaft oil jet upgrade

Which of these would you reccomend?

Get the NEO (newer means more features and better points of correction)

I like the AVC-R and I assume it's a decent unit considering no "new and Improved" units have come out on the market.

I've heard a lot of good things about innovative widebands but I haven't installed m ine so I can't give you a definite answer.

I don't know about the CDI box.

i have the safII on my car and i couldn't be happier, it works great for the mods i have. check for the aem uego wideband, it looks pretty clean, as for the boost controllers i would pick the one i like most althought i like manual boost controllers more but that's me.

I suggest using Mazda OEM seals (apex).

Why do you like the manual better? Easier to set up?

It doesn't make any sense to perform all those other mods just to run the engine with a bunch of band-aids. I think you should forget the FCD, boost controller, fuel computer and wideband and spend the same amount of money (or less) on a budget standalone EMS. Professional tuning is about $500 more, but it is well worth it.

Wolnt I need to buy all the accessories for the standalone like the boost controler, in addition to the EMS?
How much power would you expect this setup to make, I guess I was thinking if I stayed with the stock turbo it wouldnt make enough power to warrant a standalone.

Some standalones come with an electronic boost controller, and all you need to do is buy the solenoid. A standalone will also eleminate the factory fuel cut, flooding problem, 3800rpm hesitation, annoying start-up procedure, inaccurate airflow meter, and ancient stock computer. When properly tuned, a standalone will yield better gas mileage at cruise, crisper acceleration, a more stable idle, and will allow for future modifications. There is no power level that warrants a standalone. I have friends who use standalones on their stock-port NA engines with excellent results, and I personally drove one of them around a parking lot in all 5 gears without ever touching the gas pedal (try that with the stock computer, lol).

Downsides of a standalone EMS: Most standalone EMS's do not support the S5 electric OMP, so a S4 OMP or pre-mix is sometimes required. The speed-density system does not stay in tune as long as the factory AFM, so re-tuning is required as the engine ages or as you add engine performance items. Since it allows for much more engine control, a standalone is more difficult to tune than a piggyback, and sometimes it is difficult to find a good local tuner. Some EMS's don't support air conditioning very well, so be sure to check with your tuner before buying anything if this is important to you.

The wideband would not be necessary if you had the car professionally tuned. Some people still like to use one for a monitor, but it is not required.

When I checked into standalone's about a year ago, I had a hell of a time finding a tuner in Cincinnati. The closest haltech tuner was in Louisville, Ky (100+ miles away). I guess the other thing was me playing around with the car and tuning it myself was something apealing.
Any estimates on the power this setup would make?

yes, for me is easier to set up and don't have to do all the wiring involved from the electronic bc.

I have the car in pieces right now, so it wouldnt be as much trouble to run wires all over the place.

As far as tuning goes.
Microtech comes with a basemap, then just tune off of there.
If you have any experience or knowledge of tuning, it shouldnt be that hard.
You dont HAVE to pay somebody to tune it, its just a good idea.
