help please REAR brakes 87 T II
Hey there.. im just wondering how do the rear brakes work on a 87 T II, Why are there 2 bleeder screws? and how does the E brake work inside the caliper?? My e brake doesn't work... I pull it the cable moves but doesn't push out the Cylinder... but my brakes work when i am driving and stuff..its just my ebrake?? so i dont know wheat to do?? just let me know what i can do or if i just need new calipers...

> Does it just fall back down when you lift it? IF that is the case it's just gonna need to be adjusted. You can adjust it by removing the ebrake boot/cover on thendle itself. It's just a screw holding the 2 piece cover. Then there is an adjusting nut which you can use to tighten the slack.
> The other you can do is jack up the car and inspect the 3 cables making up the e-brake system. Makes it easy if you disconnect the driveshaft from the rear differential, but it can be done without doing so as well. There is a front line that goes into a widget called an equalizer which then splits into the 2 rear cables that go into their respective rear calipers. Check the equalizer first to see if it's jacked up or if one or both of the cables have come off or loose. Repair/replace as necessary.
> The last thing you can check is the where the rear ebrake cables go on the rear calipers. It's just secured on a bracket on an assembly with a spring on it. When pulled back that assembly manually presses the rear brake pads againts the rotors. You want to check to see if the rear cables have come loose/off or if there is physical damage that impedes the proper operation of the assembly itself. Of course this last part is highly improbable since it's really unlikely that both sides will fail. Nor is it likely that both rear ebrake cables have come off.

> I have the caliper off of the car right now.... when i move the hand brake lever it doesn't push out the Cylinder.... and the spring isn't move the E brake lever back to were it should be... Im thinking either its broken inside the caliper or the E brake only works when there is fulid in the caliper witch i dont know why they would happen.... so i dont know what to do???

The Haynes manual covers the two bleeder screws... IIRC, the top one is only used if you take the caliper completely apart for servicing. Get thee a Haynes manual.
