It makes no difference to me why you want to do this. It should make no difference that I say "i wouldn't bother" because like it says it IS about what --I-- would do not you.

I gave you some helpful links for your journey. So off ya go, lest I get angry and call you a ricer for no apparant reason!

Considering that he's given you a lot more info than you've given us, you should be a little more grateful and a lot less rude. So far you're the only one being disrespectful.

Why don't you explain what you're doing so that maybe we can understand why you want to take a big step backwards in technology. More info in = better info out...

plus, only one of those links helped me out. if people dont know how to wire a distributor ( wich i kinda remember from my honda days, its amazingly easy and didnt need anything) then thats my problem. half the links he gave me where for runing a carb. only one helped me out really. and infact i already knew what i needed to do, i was just making sure that nothing else was necessary.

haha found it, this is pretty bad. There are other ways to wire it up, but I like having the relay in there so i know the system is getting 12+volts.

I'm doing the megasquirt too, and for $23, I'm using a GM ignitor with the stock coils.

I dont like distributors.

And yes, of course the links will be for running a carb, running a dizzy with a carb or with a MegaSquirt will be basically the same thing...

It's very easy. Do a search for the GM HEI module on the MegaSquirt forums.

Here is another option you might be interested in:

no it's perfectly reliable if you install it right...

and megasquirt 'n spark is just a software upgrade to the megasquirt. That's what Tofu is running.

That's the beauty of DIY and open source... they update the firmware very often, and any bugs get squashed very quick.

And how well it works is more up to you than anything... if you do a crappy job it'll work like crap, if you do a good job wiring it and setting it up, it'll work well.
