Hello Folks

I'm the new owner of 88 TT, and guy that sold me the car had some minor modifications done to it(Intake, exhaust, S-Afc). I was wondering what would happen if I took the intercooler off and put two cone air filters, but I would make a piping to the front mount.

Thanks

first off the 88 are single turbo, not TT. if yours is TT then holy sh*t . I have no idea why you would want 2 air filters... unless of course it is TT are you sure it's an 88? not a 93+? is it really twin turbo (TT)

Uhh.. am I the only one that doesn't exacty understand what you want to do?
Front mount your air intake or something??? Two filters?? Why??

OK- if you are just talking about making your intercooler a front mount, it is worth it if you have a few mods.... but it's better off to get a bigger intercooler at the same time.

I am still lost on the cone filters.... You said your car already has an intake...

I have an intake but since every turbo car has intercooler, on that place where intercooler is connected can I just put air filters instead of the intercooler? Will it suck more air in?

Sure, it'll suck more air in, but too bad it would be after the air flow meter and your car won't even start.

no, it'll blow air OUT

the intercooler is past the turbo, isn't it?

after turbo means boosted
so it'll just blow lotsa air out
the intercooler is designed to cool air that the engine is about to get, because compressing air heats it up.
If you put an air filter there instead, well, it just wouldn't work.
heheh
leave the I/c alone.

Please, please, please don't take this as offense BUT...
You've just demonstrated an incredible lack of knowledge of how engines and turbos work, let alone the intricacies of one particular type of car. You should not even consider modifying your car until you've done a lot of learning! As a start, go to How Stuff Works, go to the automotive section and read everything. There's even specific articles on rotaries and turbos.
Good luck!

that is definatly some sound advise.
I knew next to nothing about cars about a year ago, but I get bored at work and just searched the net for anything related to cars that I wanted to know. then I found this forum and just read everyone's posts for a while and learned a lot.

knowlege is power
