HEEEEEELLLPPPPP!!!!!!!!!! NEW CAT is DEAD????

Well I just got the Bonez Superflo about 3 weeks ago.
Today I noticed when I got off the highway my car started to smokde from the rear.

Turns out my cat is glowing RED!!!!

It's only 3 weeks old!!!!

So I did some searching and people say it's too much fuel.
Well I did notice that when I first put the cat on it would flood in the morning cause of the back pressure.
So I guess I have leaky injectors.

I am guessing my cat is already dead and that $350 is now down the drain. Am I right(hope not I'm now broke cause of buying it)?

Well it looks like doing the timing could fix it.

How do I do timing on these?

What do I do to advance it?
I'm assuming counter clockwise to advance?
I've tried to do timing befre but couldn't move the CAS.
Is there some bolt or something?

PLLEEEASEEEE HEEEEELP!
I am soo bummed. Please no"should have gotten straight pipe". I decided superflo cause I want emissions ok stuff.

So is my Cat dead now or is it ok?

have it towed to the nearest professional and have him adjust the timing for you, for starters.

or if you want to just 'freehand' it, all you need to do is back up the 10mm nut on the CAS a turn or two, then you can rotate the CAS.

I hate defective cats, big waste of fur. Oh, those kind of catsa. Anywho, if you have a timing light you should check to see where it's at. And if you're running a red cat you could be running to lean, and advancing it wouldn't help. Check where it's at currently.

yeah. I connected the split air pipe again.

And it is making the CAT ONLY red so I have heard it is because of too much fuel. That cat works overtime and heats up.

The 10mm nut? Is that in the center of the CAS. I haven't taken the top cap off in a couple months.

I can do timing it's not hard. I just need to know what to move and how to. I haven't done it on a rotory before.

Last time I looked the red or yellow(i think yellow) mark was directly under the needle.

Do you have an inductive timing light?

Just connect your timing light to L1. aim at the timing pin. Yellow mark under timing pin? All is good!!

May be suffering from a faulty ACV.

ok, So me and JRat are talking.

We think it's ACV related since my timing is good.

We don't know if it is either giving too much air to the cat or too little if any.

One thing we are stumped about is that there is a 5th gear switch which throws voltage of only 2v while other gears are 12v to the solenoid.

So does this stop the air to the split air pipe or does it add. I would guess stop, but why?Speed?

Well I tested parts of the ACV today.

The split air pipe check valve was fine. Sucked only

The airpump sucks air.so that's working.

The air dump(under passenger headlight) pushed air.

So....what else could it be????
The amount of air coming from the ACV side of the Split air wasn't that much when I would REV it. I don't know what RPM's cause I was just moving the throttle by hand.

I'll check my plugs too but they shouldn't make the cat glow even if badly fouled right?

The injectors leak but the car runs fine with a good idle so that shouldn't be the problem.

Only thing I can think of is maybe the Presilencer broke apart a little and is blocking the Cat.

any ideas??? come on help me before i lose $350

at first I thought my car killed it but it seems more like it might be defective.

The other parts of the exhaust are non restrictive and I checked the air feeding system for it.

I'll email them tonight when I get home.

Man will that be a pain to take off. I had to drill a snapped bolt out just to replace it. Hopefully they come off easy.

You guys think I can reuse the gaskets or should I request new ones? They were the metal ones that you can buy from them.

yes, it's the bonez superflo system.
It is a beefy presilencer welded to a high flow cat.

I got an email from them last week.

There is a break in period for the cat and it may smoke some when first
running it. It is also normal for the cat to glow red. All cats will glow
red, you probably just didn't notice it before as it has allot of heat
shield. The smoking should go away shortly. If there is anything else, let
me know.

Thank you,
Rocky
It's smoked a few times lately. Pretty much only after long highway drives. One night smoke actually came through the shifter boot!

It's been a month so far with them on and it's still doing it.

Check the vac hoses on the front of the dynamic chamber - if they're mixed up you won't have any vac in the emissions solenoids rack, and the ACV won't operate properly, causing a lot of richness in the cat. The lower of the three hoses is vac for the rack.
If you know you have vacuum there, you can check the ACV and the operation of switching solenoid valve and relief solenoid valve. The FSM has the procedures.
