heard something new about engine problem

i was talking to a friend of mine and he said he had read somewhere that some carbon buildup near the spark plugs will lead to starting problems. anyone ever heard of this?

I have never heard of this, but just be sure and rev up your engine consistently so that you do not have to even consider this as a problem.

I don't think that carbon builds up there. I had an engine that was carbon locked and the only think that had carbon on it was the rotor, but some of it had broke off and wedged in between the apex seals and the rotor housing (I think) and locked it up. I never heard of that still.

Carbon buildup on the spark plugs can create starting problems. Perhaps this is what he was referring to?

im not sure if it is carbon buildup exactly. i have seen it on a few motors that there is a buildup of black **** near the sparkplugs. according to the guy building his mootr that buildup can cause starting problems, i.e. cranks for a while before it catches

i could be wrong, but i think carbon actually is a pretty decent conductor of electricity

Maybe you should try changing your spark plugs. Carbon AROUND the holes wont do anything to affect ignition. Carbon ON the plugs themselves will.
