Header ?????

Wanted to know the difference between a road race header and a streetable header? Is it just the sound that changes? Or does one flow better than the other? Already searched but didn't find and answer.

A road race header is uncollected, it has the two primaries that run together side-by-side, mostly used to run a true dual setup. The streetable header is collected, 2-1.

I believe there is no presilencer on the road race header, but the streetable one does have a little noise reduction.

incidentally, to anyone who has tried both: what difference does the RB presilencer really make? does it do anything?

The header itself contains no silencers, either one. The RB pre-silencer will bolt from the streetable header to cat-back. Wont work with the RR header because of the dual outlet design.

Those are marketing labels used by Racing Beat. As explained earlier, the Racing Beat "Road Race" header is uncollected, while their "Streetable" header is collected. Other manufacturers and distributors may use different names, but those are the two basic types of headers available for the RX-7. You can learn more about the headers and exhaust systems in the 1Gen section of the Racing Beat web site.

Actually, the uncollected "true dual" setup is rather rare, and is only produced commercially by Mazdatrix as far as I know. Most of the uncollected headers are used on long primary collected systems (called the "Street Port" exhaust by Racing Beat). Some people even use the uncollected RB Road Race header in short primary collected systems because they don't like the length of the RB Streetable header.

Sure it will. You can either collect the RR header and then run it into the pre-silencer, or you can use two pre-silencers. Here is a pic of the exhaust on my 1Gen:

Thanks for the info, so if I have a street ported 90 GTU what would be the best set up for me? I want to go true duals but is the extra power worth the extra noise for a daily driver? How much more power does going true duals give you then just a header?

How exactly do you race in the low end? I remember getting a sorry start and then passing you up. Hey my spark plugs are fouled to.

Anyways back to the important stuff

ok ok ok, i guess if you run duals, that probably wont give you a chance to run bigger piping, remember 2.5in is ideal for NA's

Anyone have better pictures of the RB headers? And do they come with the O2 sensor bung already welded in?

The streetable header has the bung but the uncollected road race one does not. I would attach a pic of my streetable header but this server sux and won't take attachments any more.
