have I done harm?

Hey,

I'v got about 1300 miles on my mazda reman. TII motor. So far I've been driving it like a granny, and I'm getting tired of it. I know some people say it takes 2000 miles for full brake in, but I was wondering if some boosting now would harm it. Today I couldn't stop myself. I was sitting at a light next to this bike and a honda accord behind me that's been sitting on my *** for a while. So when the light turned green I got on it. Revs went up to about 5.5 K and had about 7.5 lbs boost. Have I done some harm? or is it ok for me to boost now? I wanna go to the dragstip soon while the weather is still cool around here

Look at it this way, you are gradually increasing the loads on you motor. At the 1400 mile mark you run it up to 6k rpm and 8psi boost. at 1500 you go even higher. when you reach 2000 your redlineing up to 10k and boosting 28lbs!!!

yeah hayes says something around 1000 for a full brake in, which I think is total horse#%it. I think I should wait alittle bit more before boosting high again. Btw when I got on it that time I saw quite a bit of black smoke (not alot, but enough to see in my rear view mirror). Also my car idles differently now (loose clamp or something or tps needs adjusting?) anyway it's like it wants to stall when it's cold. Oh well I'll keep it safe and wait little more before I go to the dragstrip. Btw initially I've been changing oil like every 200-300 miles. But thanks for input. I feel better now

good lord. it all depends on what the condition of his engine was. its not the same for all reman engines. if they reused the same old housings, then yes you would wavht longer. if they used new housings, 6you can do it at around 500 miles or less even.
