Has this ever happened to anyone?

So I was up until 4 in the morning pulling out and dropping in a motor for my 91. it was just the bare block so EVERYTHING needed to be bolted and hooked back on into place. By the time I finished and cranked it....it fired up(YAY!!) but it revs as if I was flooring it. It hit 6k by the time I got to shut it off. I tried again and the same thing started to happen again so I shut it off sooner.
I haven't really examined it yet and I just wanted to see if its happened to anybody before and what was it so I could start there. The only thing I could think of is that the throttle cable is too tight but it was actually loose when I looked at it. Or could it be I put a hose where its not supposed 2?
Any input would be greatly appreciated....I'm gonna go see wats wrong later...thanx

if not the throttle cable, check the idle adjust screw

make sure the throttle plates aren't stuck open as well.

Could the idle adjust screw really make it do that? Cause the car doesn't idle...I mean it just revs up reaally fast. If I don't turn it off, it'll rev till it blows..literally.
I also started leaking fuel from somewhere after the incident. I was too tired to check it..lol..but ill find it later today.

I would look for a very big vacuum leak (IE: Brake booster)

A big vac leak would cause it to barely run, not to rev up. More air only revs the engine if it has more fuel also, which doesn't happen with a vac leak.

My bet is on something holding open the throttle plates.

my car rev's when i start it but it is a fuel injector problem, could that possibly play a factor?

Okay I went to go take a closer look at the car. My throttle plates are not stuck...so that's ruled out...and I also have this huge fuel leak. Its pouring all over the manifold side of the motor nore towards the rear. My only guess right now would have to be either the I have a ruptured fuel line or I might be leaking the fuel from where the LIM meets the motor. Maybe the gasket isn't doing its job or whatever.
As for the crazy full throttle start up...still no clue but it was running rough when I started it today and was surging a bit too...I found two small vaccum leaks and fixed 'em but I don't want to start it again until I'm sure its not gonna bug out on me.

Check the CAS to make sure it is coinciding with the Timing marks.I had the same thing happen on a start up.I checked the cas and moved it to correct the Timing..the Original start up was 6500!..I started up again and it started up around 2500,,then I moved the shifter and it came down,(that pesky Neutral/In gear RPM start up thing).
