Harsh idle....

I just bought my FC, and it has a little problem it chokes or something... I will turn it on and it revs high then dies, when i give it some throttle it stays on, but it always sputters and trys to die... I think it just might be a vacuum problem or somthin?...?...?

I put a K&N on it with a breather filter for the other intake line that goes to the air box and it die even worse now...

I need some help..... What is wrong with my RX-7???

Make sure your AFM is plugged in (air flow meter) its right by your air filter... you might have forgotten to plug it back in? Could also be a vacuum leak, but check the AFM plug first since you mentioned something about you changing the intake.

symptoms of unplugged AFM or a huge vacumn leak. Remember to tighten hose clamps and block holes.

Vacuum leak:

(get some ether or carb cleaner.)
start the car, run around front (or get a friend.) and operate the gas to keep running. spray ether/carb cleaner everywhere that you see a vacuum line and on the brake booster.

When the engine revs up, you have found your leak, isolate it and fix it. After this, it should run a lot more smoothly, and you can repeat as many time as necessary.

After you can't find any more vacuum leaks, adjust your tps, timing and idle. THis should fix you up.

Awesome thanks guy's...

So this carb cleaner...
You just spray it all over the vacuum lines and it will rev up if there is a leak???

Yeah, the concept is that carb cleaner will be sucked into the leak...and carb cleaner will make the engine rev up since you are adding "fuel" to the air from the intake leak. Just like blipping the throttle.. maybe a tad more subtle.
