Hardwire Vert Speaker Switch?

Anyone hard wire their headrest speaker and surround sound switches in the vert to always stay on?

There's a loose connection somewhere so the surround switch doesn't work unless I hold the headrest speaker on/off switch pushed in. The speaker on/off switch, headrest speakers and the volume controls still work normally. The problem is only with the surround switch.

Thanks.

You can, I did it in my vert, but I really got sick of the headrest speakers and the radio as a whole, so I removed it all.

The switch contacts get corroded from moisture, since it is a vert.

That seems to be a good idea, since you can control the headrest speakers with the fader control.

I had a bad switch on my controls. I spent a little time with the wiring diagram and tried the most logical (to me) way to jump the control and make the rear amp stay on at all times. When it didn't work, I just bought a used control here on the forum.

Maybe someone with a full grasp of the complicated diagram could help you with the correct way to make this work.

Good Luck!

I'm trying to keep the speakers functioning with the thought of replacing them with something that sounds better, so I'll have to take a look at the wiring diagram and see if I can figure it out.

I left the fader control since only the "on" switch didnt work.

Not entirely sure how to get rid of the control all together.

It was actually your post on new years ( https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/s5-stereo-install-so-%2Aeverything-works%2A-936255/ ) that started me down this line. Great write up on both of them, thanks for the advice!

if you open up the speaker control unit you can clean the push down part and it will start click locking again. I had this issue with mine. and now the dam vol. up down dont work but this happened a few months after fixing the on off switch.
