Hard start

Hey guys i have a 88RX7 GLX im having some trouble starting it although it will eventually fire up and run fine , I read that RX7's should start without having to give any gas , because if you do it will flood the engine , well the only way mine will start is if i completely put the gas pedal to the floor and hold it there while the engine is turning over until it starts then it will shoot to about 3000RPM and drop back down, now is this normal because im worried about flooding my engine everytime i start my car up?
Would anyone have any idea what the problem could be im guessing its some kind of sensor ?

You are having start issues because the car is flooding. Flooring the pedal helps clear the flooding.

The 3K startup is normal.

It's likely that your car is just out of tune. Start with a full tuneup. If the problem continues, have your injectors professionally cleaned.

Hard starting can also be caused by low compression.

I agree with Aaron. Sounds like your engine is flooding. Its typical for S4's to flood. Just either get your injectors cleaned or replace them.

Depends. If you are capable of doing it, then go ahead. Otherwise you'll have to take it to a mechanic. Bring a copy of the Factory Service Service manual.

Have them cleaned by an injection shop.

The full tuneup is not just changing fluids also plugs, wires, adjusting the TPS, checking the condition of sensors, etc. Look up the 60K tuneup in the service manual.

I am riding on Aarons coatail, it sounds maybe that you are experiencing low compression, or bad injectors.

ya its most likely the injectors im doing a compression check today although if it was low compression the car would have lost power and it feels fine to me but im still gonna do it just to be sure, also i figured out that the little red switch is the injector cut off switch when i flip it and put the pedal to the bottom the car will start , then die but if i flip it back before it dies it will keep running
