h4 headlight conversion...quick check

Just need a quick check before I order them.
I'm planning on getting these housings from Cork Sport

http://www.corksport.com/main.php3?p...3Fcat%3D214912

and then some H4 Sylvania Silverstars. I've got an 87 TurboII. All this stuff should swap in no problem, right? Will I need any new wiring, fuses, or stuff like that? They were talking about that on this thread.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ebay+headlight

Just want a second opinion. Don't really feel like wiring. Any help appreciated.

I bought an identical unit on ebay for less. Worked great though.

I'm very suspicious of e-bay products. Also, I read that some don't have the right shields, causing the lights to splash into opposing driver's eyes.

I've heard bad things about the eBay models, and lots of good things about the Hella kits . . .

. . . I personally am just gonna go with the Silverstars, if my bulbs ever go dim or burn out (these bulbs last forever! Argh!) :-p

Silverstars are Plug and play, however some of the ebay housings will need thr brackets modified to work. In addition some of the ebay housings are cheap plastic, that the reflective lining tends to peal when exposed to heat.

Then the third thing you have to look at is the electrical system for the car. Adding 100watt ebay bulbs just about doubles the current handling requirement of the stock wiring leading to burnt headlight harnesses.

If in any doubt about what you are putting in or your ability to understand current draw and electrical loads, go with either the Hella or Silverstars as a safer bet.

I have ebay housings on my car right now with sylvannia silverstars and they are a good improvement over stock. I've had them for about a year and the chrome lining on the inside of the housing hasnt flaked off yet. I also have a set of raybrig h4 housings that I will install. I'll take pix of the comparision ebay housing vs. raybrig.

well the draw is in amps... the used/consumed energy to output is in watts.

Most PIAA H4 bulbs I have seen that claim to have the same draw as a 65 watt (around 5.2 amps) actually are much higher (usually around 5.6 or 5.7 amp draw- making them really 70 watt bulbs).
