Guys Please Please Help Me, Engine Trouble!!!!

Ok, i will try to tell everything including weather conditions...

I dont know if this is bad, but normally when i drive my car i start it and it revs to 3-4k like normal cold start, i usually wait for it to drop to at least 1500 rpms before i start to drive it...should i wait till it drops to 700 normal idle? Well this morning i started my car to drive to my buddies, it was drizzling yesterday and raining much harder today, at 1500 rpms i took off for his house which is less than a mile away, on the startup it seemed a little rough but nothing major a little sputter and then it drove fine. then a little while ago i went to start my car it idled up to 3-4k like normal then it dropped to 1500 then it sputtered and died. waited a second, then started it again, it was blipping between 500-800 rpms. i started to drive slowly towards my house, i got maybe 1/2 way to my house about 1/2 a mile and the car started to sputter and buck, and lost all acceleration. i pulled into a parking lot, and lost my P/S and the car just died. i popped the hood it smelled a little like burning oil, but i didnt see any anywhere, and i checked my oil level, it was fine (though i do need to change it about 500 miles from change with semi synthetic is what i did last time) i didnt want to leave my car there, i know i probably should have, but i started it and drove the rest of the way to my house with no problems where it sits now...PLEASE does anyone have ANY idea what it could be. As you all know from your own cars, this is my baby, i want to get another compression check done, when i bought the car in March i had a comp. test done and it was 95psi... thats all i can think of to tell you guys if you need any more info feel free to ask and i will try my best to describe.

Thanks
Zak

I had a couple wires under my intake manifold short to the manifold and it would do that. Then blow a fuse eventually. I guess you could check for any bare wires under the manifold. My car was really abused by the previous owner though.

Any oil that is low in ash would be fine. Most members use Castrol GTX, but synthetics are fine again as long as they are low ash (but a bit of a waste of money- as you still need to maintain 3000-5000 mile oil changes).

It is an old wives tale that you can't use synthetics. Most burn cleaner than conventional oils and do burn at under 500F, considerably lower than the combustion temp of a rotary motor. So if you have the extra money you, should feel free to use any good quality low ash oil, be it synthetic or conventional.

You can find the ash amount on any oil manufactures web page. In a perfect world you would only use a oil with a ash level under 1.0%
