My 1988 Fc is makes a grinding noise when I press the clutch in. It stops making the noise when I depress it. I heard in forums that people have a issue when they depress the clutch they start to hear it grind but I'm the opposite. Is it the throw out bearing? I took out the transmission already but I dont know how to check if its bad. Pretty new to this. Any information helps thanks.

I replaced the the throwout bearing but nothing has changed?

 

I think there is something called a transmission input shaft bearing you might want to look into? I am NO expert, I am just sharing what I have read.

 

when you had the tranny off, did you check the pilot bearing?

do you find it any more difficult to get it in gear since the noise started?
