Need help pricing my stuff.

Hello everyone,
I am in the middle of an engine swap and no longer need my engine and trans from my 87 fc.

I want to list the stuff on the marketplace but i genuinely dont know what to even ask for it. I dont want to break any forum rules so please don't make any offers on this post. This is strictly because I need help pricing the items.

I have a mated 13b n/a engine and manual trans from an 87 fc. 64k miles.
the engine sat for about 5 years and upon inspection although turning over freely there is a slight grind in a few spots and I would assume the engine would need a seal rebuild. It has not been ran or started since before going into storage so there hasn't been any major failure, just bad from sitting.

The transmission is perfect.

Can someone help me price these items?

I dont know where to begin with the engine as I cant find many for sale to compare to.

Thanks in advance sorry if i violated any rules.

Welcome to the wonderful world of selling rotary engines.

See there is a paradox at play here. You can get more money parting the engine out, than selling the engine as a whole. Quite a bit more. But generally people say that a running engine should not be parted out. This is because, by nature of the Wankel, it’s almost guaranteed that at least one component will be junk. Possibly more.

Take my 13b for example. I built my ideal N/A engine, and swapped it in. My old engine ran perfect when I pulled it, cold and hot started great, good compression. just drank a little coolant. My dumb *** opened it up. Housings? Edgewear, chatter marks, junk. Irons? Cracked, step wear, junk. Rotors were ok, so was the e shaft. I got $300 for parts from a motor I could’ve asked $750-$1000 all day for.

now seeing as yours has sat and makes noise when turned, it can either be sold as a mystery engine (who knows what you’ll find???), or risk taking it apart. You may find everything is junk and now you’ve got a boat anchor. Maybe sell the rotors for $20 a piece for display. But with all the criteria applied for your motor, I wouldn’t expect to get much for it. Sounds like it may be scrap. List it as accepting offers, after a week take the highest.

transmission is different, unfortunately N/A trannies have plate glass internals, so the market is there, but also not there, as anyone serious uses TII trans. I got a free trans out of a deal and got $200 for it.

where are you located?

Thanks for the good info. I know that a part out would net me the most money, and I know very well how to completely tear down a 13b. I just don't have time to deal with all of the messaging and shipping and pictures and general time suck that part outs always turn into for me.

Plus if I was going to go the part out route I'd just do a full rebuild and sell it as such, but again its alot more time than I have. Between running a buisiness and currently building the engine going into the car id be fine getting way less money and just getting it sold.

So with that said what is a good asking price for the mystery engine and tranny? 350 bucks?

Oh and I'm in Rochester ny
