Glowing red exhaust

OK i just got my FC up and running

anyway, the first couple times we started it, it ran on then like 8 mins later i think there was an exhaust leak right by the O2 sensor and it started to smoke....then like 4 mins later the car shut off.

Ok now, we start it, it starts fine, no extra power needed or any hesistation. we ran it for about 20 mins when i noticed the exhaust manifold where the 02 sensor was was glowing red hot. we shut if off b/c we didnt know if it was supposed to be this way or not.

is it supposed to be glowing red hot?

If you have a TII the turbo gets to glow red hot after driving for a while under boost. But if you mean an N/a I have only seen my headers glow once. Then never again did they glow.

while idling then no they shouldnt glow, but if ur out on the highway for liek 5 minutes then stop and pop the hood then it is normal for it to gow and slowly go away.

well it hasnt been started for a while, it just got started a couple days ago.

BTW its NA

and before there was an exhaust leak of some sort by the O2 sensor and it shut the car off.

this time, the car stayed on, I didnt notice smoke but it was glowin red, but not like glowing bright, but just noticable

oh and it ran on 4K rpms for about 20 mins before it glowed.

Glowing can also be one sign of a blown or stuck apex seal on the rear rotor. If it runs like crap you might want to do a compression check.

dori an o2 sensor failure will not shut the car off. im pretty sure they can run without o2 sensors all together (not recomended), they just dont run very well (realy rich).

i think something else caused the car to shut off which doesnt sound good in my book.

it ran for 20-25 mins on 4K rpms and it glowed.

check your exhaust, it sounds like you might have an obstruction in it. Possibly a collapsed catalytic converter. <<<?

With all due respect I believe this is bad advise. I have run many at 4K for 20 minutes or longer and had no ill effects let alone melting the exhaust.

This is a sign of a problem that should be properly diagnosed.

Timing light... you might want to take it someone who knows how to set the timing.. you should just go messing with it.

what should it be timed to? I have a timer gun and my dad can use it.

Also how do I adjust the crank angle sensor?
