to get TII or not?

Im lookin to buy a TII, I have found two of them, one with 200km and one with 160km, the one with 200km will need a rebuild and the one with 160km I could get a 2 year warranty on the engine. The 200km is $6000 CDN and the 160km is $7500. I am wandering if it really is worth it for me to get the TII, keep in mind I am only 17, or should I go with a non-turbo'd seconf gen Rx-7, and if I go with non-turbo, which do you guys recomend? Or just not buy an Rx-7 because of there high maintance... and get a 5.0 >.<

first of all, 7500 is way too much if you ask me. check out ebay, if you like working on them you can get them alot cheaper. but about ur comment on the 5.0. my friend is currently working on his mustang and he found an interesting secret. the 2.3turbo... you can get them out of thunderbirds and put them in mustangs or just add a turbo too your mustang. that way you get a much faster car than a 5.0 and it is much lighter, more fuel efficient, and you can scare the hell out of everyone cuz they wont even know.... but it still wont beat an rx-7, so heres just a little imput.... get a TII but dont pay so much, keep looking until you find the right one

Oh no, not more about the turbo 2.3L! I believe they did make 'stangs with them, atleast the SVO. I would hope your horizons are broader than a mustang or RX-7.

RX-7s are about a lot more than just going in a staight line. In terms of maintanance, I don't think they're any worse than any other car of a similar age. TII engines only last 120-140k miles so be leary about buying one in this range. (unless it's got a new engine) N/As will do about 200k miles. Come to the Canadian section of the forum, there's a very nice and cheap TII that one person's trying to unload.

1. The prices are in Canadian dollars, and seem pretty reasonable as well.

2. You have to be kidding about the 2.3L Turbo mustang engines against a 5.0. 350 is about the max anyone has eeked out of a turbo 2.3, but people have gone far above 1000 horsepower on a 5.0.
Stock performance: the 5.0 is faster.
Similar mods: the 5.0 is faster.

In no way is a 2.3L turbo a faster car.

NUB: go for it. Don't let your age scare you away. The RX-7 is not in the same class speed-wise as a 5.0 (stock), but overall, is a much better driving experience IMO. The ability to handle, brake, and much better interior amenities make it a much better car in my book.
But if you're looking for a great straight-line car, you can't do much better than a 5.0L

Well I had an Rx-7, and i Loved it so much... and the 5.0's I have been looking at are '88 Cobra GT's... and I don't have a huge budget, but I really want an Rx-7.. 5.0 is more of a backup plan... who is selling a TII in Canada btw? Where do I find it?

I used to have a mustang, and sold it for an 88 NA. I loved driving the NA much more.

You're on your own trying to find a TII up here. Especially an S5. You just get lucky sometimes...

A TII can certainly go head to head with a 5.0. (I know certain ones are faster than others) At the strip I've gone up against a few, including a late 80's cobra. The cobra seemed pretty well matched to mine (stock). Go compare on www.car-stats.com to confirm it.

Better alternatives would be a supra turbo, MR2, 944, DSM, or corvette.
