Gauge lights

Okay so i got my car back today from the mechanics, drove it home from the shop, about 50kms away from my house.
It had been there for 5 days while they tried to get it through aircare. I have no cat + no emissions equipment on the car.
Finally they got it through yesterday and put it all back together for me.
I noticed when they were putting it together there was this big wire harness setup that was hanging out the passenger window and then they plugged it in somewhere.
Anyways, now last night driving along, and my gauge lights start flickering, only those lights, not my stereo or anything. Now they are off and once in a while throughout the night they would flicker back on at full illumination and then dissapear.
Any ideas? I have searched but it doesnt seem to be a common problem.

Connector not completely snapped together would be my guess based on what you say. Take it back to the mechanics so they can check their work.

probably a connector or something in your wiring. Check the connections.

Check your fuses. Then check the wires... make sure there aren't any shorts.

Ok so i took out the switch and checked all the connections, there was no corrosion underneath all those things you had to take off.
Also looked at the harness and it looks fine, in great shape.
Fuse seems to be fine as well. What else is left?

maybe you can borrow someone else's headlight switch that actually works and plug that one in...that's how I found out why my gauge lights weren't lighting up either.
