Is there supposed to be a gasket between the lower and upper intake sections of an S4 N/A?

while you have it apart port match the two manifolds to the gasket!

you mean port match the middle ports at the end of the upper intake manifold (the lower intake manifold inner holes are already matched to the gasket). Then as for the outer two holes, port those as big as you can go without making the walls too thin and cut the extra gasket off, bam new template to match to the lower intake

I understand gasket matching but what's the point of making the holes bigger?
You'll get the same amount of air flow won't you?

bigger holes = more flow, simple as that

It's not more flow because you only make one part of the intake tract bigger..

Not so much, at least how i did it. First i made the beginning of the hole to the size i wanted, after doing that i stuck the saw drill bit down further in the port where it curves and bends and shaved a BUNCH off of the bend making it a smoother transition from the hole on top and larger over since the bend was not as drastic. So basically where before it was a circle that went down and then bent to go the rest of the way, it goes straight down with minimal bending

Oh icic...
I can't port it that much with my dremel. I don't have the beaver saw bit that the porting tread recommended.

Yah i dont think the dremel would be able to fit as far down as I went when taking away some of the bend. But using the saw drill bit was definitely NOT EASY. It took a lot of time and strength when pushing the drill bit against the walls... i was pretty sore after the 2 days of doing it but all in all I'm glad I did it.
