Is this at idle? We all seem to run a bit rich at idle...
Hook up a meter to the O2 sensor's input at the ECU, and take her for a drive. If, at cruise in 5th gear, the meter is bouncing around .5 volts or so, you're good. Anything over .5 means you're rich, and you'll see this at idle and acceleration, if everything's working right...

Read about how to adjust the idle mixture. This can help a rough idle and strong rich smell coming from the exhaust. The instructions are really easy to follow in the Shop Manual. Worth a shot.
