daily driven TII??
well if the car was abused before you had it then it is probably going to crap out soon as far as the engine is conserned however if it was treated good then you should have no problems. If your going to use it as a daily driver you may want to do your maintance on a regular basis if you don't already. Also you may want to do a compression check just to see how healthy the car really is.
I daily drive my TII in the summer, it's fine as a DD.
Only thing that may bug you is lack of low end...as in an UTTER LACK
anything under 3k is almost useless in terms of passing/merging
other than that...it's just fine

the only reason you would drive a t2 as a daily driver is because you are 2 poor to buy a daily driver. do yourself a favor and buy a daily driver and leave the sports cars for spirited driving. Plus its real tuff to mod a DD.

For those of us who don't deal with that crap all the time, a TurboII is perfectly fine for a daily driver (at least in the summer). You drive the TurboII in the spring/summer/fall, and the "winter beater" (aka a $800 Civic) in the winter.
DD'ing isn't really bad at all. I don't want to comment on the gas mileage because 1. sitting in downtown traffic or morning rush hour traffic burns gas for any car and 2. obviously I'm not driving a 2004 whatever so gas consumption while idling will be far less efficient than say a brand new civic. As for passing power, shifting down might help. =). j/k. Then again look at what car you drive (or want to drive).
Honestly, I like driving my T2 around because of the nimbleness. While all these SUVs and heavier cars are on the road, I can weave in and out and change lanes with a twitch of the wheel. If you're in MD up north, take I-83 south and head toward the city. The beginning is relatively straight and everyone driving home or on the weekends wants to show off but when you get about 1/2 way toward the city it's curve after curve after curve. I'll end up passing them and be in the city a good couple minutes before they arrive.

I have a modded t2 and its perfectly fine daily driving, although my gxl was better. I also like having a little car in parking lots/traffic stuff like that. It's just easier to get around. Gas mileage is a bitch though.
I bought an MA70 Supra just so I wouldn't have to put miles on my TII... so now I have a TII for a daily driver and a Supra that's been in the shop for two months straight (It's true, pistons really do suck). The TII has made a GREAT DD much to my surprise. It's not the most comfortable commuter because of the stiff suspension, but it's been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned, second only to an NA FC. I make sure it gets its usual dose of fresh oil, expensive gas, and 7k RPM.
